July 31, 2014 • FILED UNDER: News

The musical legend Zainal Abidin designs 3 kompangs that will be auctioned off to help raise funds for the Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF). The funds raised will help the Malaysian independant non-profit organization to further its efforts in conducting research in prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.

Kompang is a small hand-held rebana used by the Malay community. It is commonly used to announce the arrival of important guests, such as VIPs, as well as to celebrate Malay weddings.

Zainal Abidin is slated to perform at the Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival Gala Night. Don’t miss his captivating performance on September 14 at klpac.
