Be mesmerised by a spellbinding triple bill of dance unlike anything you have seen before.

3 Faces showcases three diverse acts - Bharatanatyam, Zapin, and Contemporary dance - performed by the dancers from the Faculty of Dance, Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA).

In a bold move, the dancers will break down the barrier between different dance genres. In many ways, 3 Faces is historic as it showcases dancers trained in a multicultural system which has enabled them to acquire phenomenal skills in several different languages.

ASWARA FACULTY OF DANCE

ASWARA's Faculty of Dance offers a comprehensive programme to master different genres of Malaysian, Asian and Western dance. The primary focus of the faculty is to produce high calibre and professional dancers who are well-trained and knowledgeable in the fundamental of arts as well as techniques in traditional and contemporary dances so that they can generate creative work and conduct workshops.

The Faculty of Dance explores the field of dance through studio activities, lectures and production with hands-on learning from master teachers, prominent artists and experts from the industry, professionals and experienced lecturers, reading references as well as project implementation. The extensive syllabus equips graduates with the skills, experience and enthusiasm who are then able to contribute to the development of the Malaysian dance industry.

MAIN WAYANG: HIKAYAT SANG KANCIL

Dam Interactive join forces with the children at Yayasan Chow Kit to put a fun spin on the beloved Sang Kancil fable using a mix of shadow puppetry, animation, acting as well as visual and sound effects.

Various short stories will be dubbed and performed in a talk show format with multiple screens showing different sides of the same story.

“Main” (meaning play in Bahasa Malaysia) denotes the light and carefree style of the show. So, round up your family and friends (young ones and those young at heart) and enjoy this new take on Sang Kancil.

About Fairuz Sulaiman
Fairuz Sulaiman is a multimedia artist. With his background in Film & Animation, he is an active proponent of the indie music scene with his analogue and performative visuals. He has been involved in several international artist-in-residency and recently a part of Project Glocal in Taipei, supported by the Digital Art Foundation (DAF). He is also the co-director for DAM Interactive and co-creator for DAC Festival, a festival that showcases heritage and technology.

DAM Interactive works on commission projects and site-specific art works that utilise video, moving images and architecture. They have worked on numerous stage designs, performances, art galleries, museums, festivals and event launches. Their works deal primarily with a combination of analogue and digital techniques.
